TUBES – Material / Features

 Polymethylmethacrylat (PMMA)
ATHEX tubes are UV-stabilized

Transparency and Light Transmission:

Most important Features of our Tubes

We achieve optics similar to glass by using polycarbonate (a.o. Makrolon®, Lexan®) and acrylic glass (a.o. PLEXIGLAS®, Altuglas®). This guarantees a constant and very high quality of our products, giving them superb features:

 Polycarbonate (PC)

  • colorless transparent, opal, diffuse/satin, special LED-dispersing features and individually specified colors
  • high impact resistance (nearly unbreakable)
  • reasonably weatherproof*)
  • high heat deflection temperature (up to ca. 130 °C)
  • good embrittlement resistance (down to ca. -35 °C)
  • Flammability rating UL94 "HB" to "V0" (depending on material type)

*) ATHEX only processes UV-stabilised PC

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)

  • colorless transparent, opal, diffuse/satin, special LED-dispersing features and individually specified colors
  • unrivalled weather- and aging-resistance (no yellowness-effect from UV-radiation)
  • reasonably impact resistant*)
  • Heat deflection temperature from 85 °C to 100 °C (depending on material type)
  • Flammability rating UL 94 "HB" (burns with very low smoke- and pollutant-level)

*) By application of specific material modifiers, impact resistance can be improved (i.e. protection against vandalism).
